Copper wire and Turquoise
£120.00
Ananda - Bliss - The condition of utter joy! This armlet, made with my favorite stone - Turquoise, with my favorite metal to work with - copper, was pure pleasure for me to work on, so this seemed the only fitting name! Armlets have been worn throughout the ages and are perfect for those with a love of more unusual jewellery. Also known as arm cuffs or arm bracelets. Torcs, also called Torq or Torque, were worn in ancient Briton and Europe, some 2000 years ago, particularly by the Gauls and Vikings. They were generally a single piece or strands of metal, twisted together, to form a large, rigid ring.
An asymmetrical armlet which has two beautiful large drop shaped piece of Turquoise as the focal point, which I have encased in sweeps of copper wire. The flowing lines of copper wire continue around this stones. The smooth wire is accented with sweeps of copper beads of graduating sizes. The shape of the focal stone is balanced with swirls and sweeps of copper wire.
The armlet is made with very thick copper wire, which I have hand forged, to form the supporting frame for the whole piece. hammering it all the way round, to strengthen it.
The Armlet has an inner circumference of 10', it can be opened or closed, to make it larger or smaller. The detail on the each end measures 2' long, from the bottom of the stone, to the end of the coils of wire.
I have oxidised this piece to highlight the detail.
