Mermaids Tear Drop Necklace - Copper and Labradorite
Copper and Labradorite
Sold
I have made this version of my Mermaids Teardrop necklace with heavy gauge copper wire. The central frame I have hammered smooth and the two outer frame wires I have added texture to, creating a contrast.
The central stone is a free form Labradorite which has brilliant blue and green flashes (I have done my best to capture this in the pictures). I have wrapped the top with copper wire to create a cap. The bottom of the main frame has 5 Labradorite rondelles and copper beads of graduating sizes, which are attached to the frame using my Kiss Kross wrap..
The flowing frame has 3 open spirals either side, from which hang 3 small Labradortie drops again wrapped in fine copper wire to echo the central stone. The whole frame has a gentle smooth curve to it, so that it sits comfortably on your chest.
Wrapped connectors attach the Viking chain, which is finished on either end with a handmade wire cone and the necklace is finished with a handmade hook clasp which I have hammered to reflect the central piece.
I have oxidised this piece to highlight the detail and contrasting textures.
The necklace measures 21' in total. The centre piece is 4 1/3' across and 2 1/3' tall which hangs from 8 1/2' of Viking knit chain either side (including clasp and connectors)
